What is Glutathione
Glutathione has identified more than 100 years, but its importance is more apparent over the past 30 years. It plays an important role in our lives because we could literally not live without it.
Glutathione is an antioxidant and can be found in all cells of our body, protecting against free radicals and peroxides.
Free radicals are molecules located within our cells which have reacted with oxygen in our bodies (this is called oxidation). For this reaction, the molecules of becomes unstable and do not have at least one unpaired electron. This requires to look for other more healthy and stable molecules electrons. The role of an antioxidant is to prevent free radicals to achieve this objective.
There are different types of peroxides, with very complicated scientific explanations. However, consider a single, hydrogen peroxide, which is a product of short duration that is toxic to cells. This toxicity occurs due to the oxidation of protein, membrane lipids and DNA by ion peroxides.
Glutathione is the main endogenous (naturally created) antioxidant produced by our cells, whose primary role is to neutralize the compound free and reactive oxygen radicals. It also helps maintain exogenous (externally created) antioxidants, like vitamin c and vitamin E (their active reduced form).
Nitric oxide cycle is regulated by glutathione, and it also helps to detoxify carcinogenic, and foreign compounds including heavy metals such as mercury and lead.
Glutathione is essential to help the immune system is working at full capacity, but almost all parts of the body can be affected by the substance, including the nervous system, the digestive tract and lungs.
Although glutathione is produced naturally in our bodies, research has shown that people suffering from chronic diseases and premature aging have lower levels of glutathione would normally be expected, which confirms the importance of maintaining a high level of this substance.
Try increasing glutathione levels which fell is not easy and research has shown that orally taken glutathione is not well absorbed along the digestive tract. It is believed generally survived his journey through the gastrointestinal tract is too small to be of assistance any clinically beneficial.
Glutathione may be raised by the use of drugs and some means natural, often called precursors and building blocks. N-acetyl-cysteine is a precursor and frequently used in the treatment of liver failure caused by an overdose of acetaminophen. N-acetyl-cysteine raises the level of glutathione of patients quickly and prevents the failing organ.
Vitamin d has shown to increase the level of glutathione in the brain, but this seems to be also linked to how much Vitamin D3 has already, or supplements taken orally or obtained from the exposure to the Sun.
With glutathione intravenous is regarded as the most effective way to stimulate the levels, but some have expressed doubts about his abilities. And while it can be inhaled, it is not considered a practical (or all that effective) option.
However, when glutathione uses a delivery liposome (orally), the results were very promising. The results showed that a very high percentage of the substance found its way through the digestive system successfully.
A supplement of glutathione (such as glutathione liposome) is not only more convenient that receive an injection, but much less expensive as well. If studies are correct, it seems that the liposome method can even be more effective than intravenous option.
Apart from the previously mentioned benefits, glutathione may have the ability to control some cancers, diabetes and other degenerative diseases. It was suggested that it could also help in the treatment of hepatitis, cirrhosis and other diseases of the liver. Even some asthma and pulmonary conditions showed improvement after supplementation of glutathione.
There is also evidence that glutathione levels may also accelerate the aging process, it is perhaps not surprising that many believe that boost levels may actually slow down this process. It would seem that not only can glutathione keep us alive, but it can potentially eliminate (and certainly reduce) many diseases fatal and we keep young much longer.
